The Role

Plano ISD is seeking a dedicated and collaborative TSVI to provide specialized instruction and support for students (Birth–21) who are blind or have low vision. You will be the primary advocate for these students, ensuring they have the tools, technology, and adapted materials necessary to access their education and thrive alongside their peers.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Instruction: Provide specialized instruction in the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), including Braille literacy, assistive technology, and independent living skills.
Assessment: Conduct Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA); interpret medical eye reports for educational impact.
Collaboration: Partner with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum materials (Braille, large print, tactile graphics) and attend ARD/IEP meetings as the vision expert.
Technology: Implementation and training for assistive technology devices, ranging from low-vision magnifiers to refreshable Braille displays.
Consultation: Support families and staff in understanding the unique implications of a student's visual impairment.
