WSSB is currently recruiting for a Preschool Transition Specialist - Blind/Low Vision (TBLVL). This position is slated to begin fall (August) of 2024. 

Position Goal: Provide specialized BLV services/ supports for children age Birth to 5 in their homes, in local schools and within the community.

This position will provide specialized BLV services to children ages birth to 5 who live in Vancouver and neighboring communities. The teacher will work independently under the direction of the Birth-5 Director. The incumbent will provide parent coaching, instruction, services and/ or supports to best meet the unique needs of each child and the early supports agency/ early childhood setting being served.  Caseload will be developed according to contracts with individual DCYF/ESIT Provider Agencies and local education agencies.

Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision is currently seeking a part-time Transition Coordinator.  Work days and hours will vary based on program requirements.  This position will be responsible for the overall coordination, organization, planning and direct provision of Transition Training services to youth, ages 14 - 21, who are blind or visually impaired.   

Earle Baum Center (EBC) is a nonprofit regional community center located in Santa Rosa, CA, serving people with low vision and sight loss in Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, and Napa counties. This position is responsible for the provision of Vision Services to children from birth – 21.  Services may be provided in community (homes), daycares, preschools, and school-based settings in accordance with the IFSP/IEP.  The TVI may service each child alone or as part of a team to develop and implement the goals for an individualized family service plan (IFSP) for early intervention (birth-3), develop and implement individualized education plans (IEP) for preschool or school age each child/young adult (ages 3-21), collaborate with other professionals, and serve as a community liaison to ensure quality vision services. Participation in VIA summer programs for school-age students will be at the discretion of the TVI supervisor based on summer caseloads and provider availability.

Our district is in need of a teacher of the visually impaired on a contracted basis.  We are agreeable to paying mileage, and we would also be willing to contract for teletherapy for our two students with vision needs.  In our district, we have one student who is visually impaired (blind) who also receives orientation and mobility services through another contracted service provider.  In addition, we have a second student with low vision who needs services on a monitoring/consult basis.
